limited-edition from Laphroaig, this single malt is triple matured, beginning in bourbon barrels, followed by quarter casks, and finishing in Pedro Ximénez hogsheads. The 2021 Càirdeas Pedro Ximénez Cask was originally released exclusively for Friends of Laphroaig. That’s the name of their official fan club, or membership if you will, it doesn’t make the rest of us enemies. At least we hope not.

Region: Islay
Colour: Bold, pale gold
Nose: Fruity and subtly coastal. Stewed apples, vanilla custard and zesty orange peel with subtle peaty notes.
Palate: Fruity, sweet and salty. Green apples and runny honey with cream soda and soft peatiness of a smouldering bonfire and smoked seafood.
Finish: Sweet with an increasingly warming smokiness to finish.
