Part of Nikka’s highly popular Black range, the Nikka Black Clear brings together vintages from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries for a light, drinkable expression. A perfect entry dram for whisky beginners and best enjoyed neat. Nikka also promotes its Nikka Black in highballs, for a refreshing cocktail.

The nose is inviting and light, with notes of honey, malt, and sweetness. The palate is quite rough, as the welcomed sweetness is overwhelmed by the harsh warmth of alcohol. Surprising, given the low ABV. The finish is short, warming, and spicy. Overall, a rather mediocre expression, which is understandable, given its low price point.
